Board advances Master Plan update; adoption vote set for August

NH BROOKFIELD — Brookfield planning board advances Master Plan update with adoption vote set for August. The board held a public hearing on its revised Master Plan, which condenses sections to three and updates the vision statement to emphasize rural and scenic character preservation, managed development, cost control, natural resource sustainability, and small-town lifestyle. Current population stands at approximately 800 residents; projections show only 25 additional residents and 30 to 40 additional homes by 2035.
Public commenter Steve Patriquin questioned the low growth projections given the aging population. The board agreed to incorporate community feedback including Wakefield Parks and Recreation coordination and softened land acquisition language before the final adoption vote on August 10.
