Conservation Commission plans historic site interpretation signage

NH BROOKFIELD — Brookfield plans interpretive signage and preservation work for the historic Hackett site. Commission Chair Frank Frazier will create eight interpretive signs marking historic features including outhouse pits, wells, and rock discard piles at the site, using three-inch letters in state park font. The joint Heritage Commission and Conservation Commission project includes clearing plant matter from stone walls beginning May 1, with additional clearing of trees and field areas scheduled through fall to avoid disrupting American Woodcock nesting.
Commission member Jeremy Marcotte announced he will not seek reappointment but plans to continue preserve trail work and consider becoming an alternate member.
