Planning Board continues Smith gravel pit permit hearing

Planning Board · Meeting of July 6, 2026

NH BROOKFIELD — Brookfield Planning Board opens and continues Thomas Smith gravel pit permit hearing. The board convened a public hearing on Smith's gravel pit permit application at 228 Governors Road but immediately continued it to August 10 after Smith reported a scheduling conflict and did not attend. Chair Ed Ingalls explained that state law now requires annual permit renewals for all gravel pits to ensure due process.

The board voted unanimously 7-0 to continue the hearing. Jen McKown of 234 Governors Road, attending the public hearing, asked about 2026 inspection status and public attendance at inspections; Ingalls said the inspection has not yet been completed and he will seek Smith's permission for public attendance.
