NH BROOKFIELD — The Planning Board referred gravel pit grandfathering questions to legal counsel for formal review. The board analyzed 1977 and 1991 permit applications for operations potentially expanded from 4 acres to 20 acres, questioning whether the 1991 filing preserves grandfathered status and whether expansion triggers new state permitting requirements under RSA 155-E. The board unanimously appointed UNH professor John Roth as Strafford Regional Planning Commission representative and approved a $68.50 invoice from the Union Leader for publishing a hearing notice.
Noise complaints from abutters about 7 a.m. starts and Saturday operations prompted the board to draft new operational standards for the site.
